Planned Giving and Bequests

Make a lasting gift to the Welcome Inn Community Fund.
As you plan your giving, consider a charitable bequest or other planned gift for the benefit of Welcome Inn by supporting the Welcome Inn Community Fund.  Welcome Inn partners with Mennonite Foundation of Canada to provide this opportunity.  Each gift to this fund through Mennonite Foundation of Canada ensures that Welcome Inn will be able to provide services for a long time to come.  To learn more about ways that you can make a lasting gift go to www.mennofoundation.ca and contact a Consultant in your area.

In Memoriam Donations

When faced with the passing of someone close to you, consider making a gift to Welcome Inn as a celebration of life. A card will be sent to the family acknowledging a gift that was made in their memory. Send your donation along with the name and address of the person you would like the card to be sent to.

All donations receive a charitable tax receipt. Financial statements can be viewed at www.cra-arc.gc.ca/charities. Welcome Inn Community Centre is a registered charity (107690992 RR0001)

Make an in-kind donation

There are several opportunities to donate items throughout the year and checking back here often may give you new ideas for how you can make a difference. If you have an idea of something you can donate contact us to determine how it can be best used.

Current In-Kind Needs

• Art supplies
• School supplies (notebooks, pencils, markers, crayons, erasers, pens, etc)
• Small gift items for seniors
• Gifts for children for Christmas
• Toiletries for men and women
• New prizes for Penny Sale (June 2009)

Eligible in-kind donations will receive a charitable tax receipt.

Organize a clothing Drive for New Horizons

Donating used clothing, furniture and household items is one of the best ways to protect the environment. Get your friends, family or congregation together and hold a donation drive.

Pick up and delivery can be available for bulk donations and larger items.

Currently needed items are:

• Men’s clothing
• Fall/winter coats and boots
• Women’s clothing
• Children’s clothing

Organize a Food Drive

Welcome Inn’s food pantry serves over 8,000 people every year. The shelves need to be filled every week in order to keep up with the demand. Sometimes there is just not enough food available and the pantry needs to close. You can keep the pantry open by bringing in a bag of groceries or organizing a food drive at your church, group or school. Contact us to arrange for pick-up of large amounts of food. Next time your local grocery store has a sale pick up a case and bring it over!

Frequently needed food pantry items are:

• Canned meats (tuna, ham, turkey, salmon)
• Peanut butter (500ml jars)
• Rice (small bags)
• Dry pasta, dry potatoes, or side-dish mixes
• Canned chili and stews
• Cash donations can be used to purchase food and gift certificates for perishable items
