Fund a program

Every year over 10,000 people participate in programs at Welcome Inn. You can join with those listed below to support a program or project as a whole or in part. You can provide dollars to support a child, adult or senior attending a program. You can fund program supplies or make a grant to support a piece of a program. You can make a contribution towards a special project such as a building or technology improvement (there's one every year). Funding a program ensures that community resilience is fostered through education and relationship each and everyday.

Participate in a Learning Experience

You can bring a group to Welcome Inn for a learning experience any day of the week or weekend. Learn about urban ministry, social justice and social action, and poverty. Experiential workshop topics include: Bible study related to poverty, hands on or virtual community walk to understand depth of poverty, hand on food bank experience and what it means to be hungry in Canada, engaging the church in outreach, and a true to life experience of poverty. Workshops are designed to be a minimum of 2-3 hours in length for groups no larger than 25 (in most cases). All workshops include a facility tour and can include a hands on component. Learning experiences can be tailored to meet the specific goals of your group.

You can also bring a group for a longer period of time and participate in a program as volunteers. Come and stay for a week to work on a project, get to know the community, learn about Hamilton, poverty, urban ministry and faith. Other ideas include organizing a food drive, collecting food and then bringing it to Welcome Inn, putting it away and then preparing a meal while learning about hunger and poverty in Canada.

Host a fundraiser

You can make a difference by hosting an event to raise funds for Welcome Inn. Some ideas include:

• At your next birthday or anniversary celebration collect financial or food donations instead of gifts
• Plan a dinner at your church or group to raise funds
• Host a motorcycle ride or car rally as a fundraiser
• Play a round of golf or cards with your friends as a way to raise money
• Have a yard sale this summer and donate the money to Welcome Inn
